The Young Dragon is named so due to Ximena's legacy as both the youngest chair on the council in recent record to serve, becoming chair at the age of 28, but also entering the Arcanium as the youngest dragonborn in history, having graduated from the College of Lore at fourteen. Born to a notable Dragonborn clan and into wealth, Ximena focused on her studies exclusively in life. Despite losing her parents at four years old, she seemed no les driven, entering the College of Lore at twelve and completing her four year degree in two years. She would focus on Divination in her studies, considered one of the more respected and ancient forms of magic. She would author Ximena's Foresight, Ximena's Star Stories, Ximena's Perfect Insight, Ximena's Many Eyes, and Ximena's Illuminating Stars.
She would also fund and create the continents largest observatory, piercing out of the isle of Myrrine and using magic runes to block out light pollution. She similarly has built a rather elaborate menagerie or rare creatures, items, and history, forming her own sort of zoo and library of her own. She would also, uniquely among her peers, spend some years after her graduation working in the field specifically for the Sacred Band, replacing much of her research years with adventuring.
On her return she would win her chair from the previous Grand Diviner in a famous game called the letter loop. Both participants send a letter to the other, each a response to the other letter. This creates an obvious look of each letter referring to the other, creating layers and layers of wyrding and possible futures, whosevers letter is the one that refers back to the others clearly, is the winner. Such a game as simple as it might sound requires an ability to peel the wyrding like an onion and when it was done, it is said that Ximena's letter had seen through 23 layers of letters, defeating the previous chair.
Failures & Embarrassments
Ximena's famously difficult as a teacher. Often purposely attempting to confuse and obfuscate her students. Many view her as a test of resilience more than a mentor. She's been accused of being immature, overly focused on the competitive game of the Arcanium. Her papers purposely seem difficult to recreate, and rare, Ximena favoring complicated and difficult to recreate spells. Her critics claim all of this shows that Ximena's first priority is the acquisition of knowledge for herself and not the collection of knowledge for others. Worst of all despite working for the Sacred Band, or perhaps due to her time in it, after becoming a chair on the Council, she released the unapologetic manifesto "The City of Stars" A thesis arguing for the complete deregulation of magic, stating that such safeguards are preventing the second empire from achieving the utopia of the first. That the church would prefer people ignorant and controlled than enlightened and free. Such a political paper nearly lost her the seat of Grand Diviner, and set her as a die hard Populists. Despite the controversy, they would carry it with a knowing smile, perhaps well aware the outcome ahead of time.
