Nanos

Nanos is an ocean planet that is located in a mostly unsettled system. Its native culture and people are called Nanosians.
The planet is not formally a member of the Galactic Coalition, however, the planet is considered to be a territory of the Coalition. The planet is home to a sentient species however they were not discovered until after the planet was claimed, making whether or not the planet should b a territory of the coalition or be made its own sovereign state a whole topic of debate.

Star System

Nanos is a satellite moon located in a single-star system with three planets, one of which is a large gas planet that Nanos orbits making it a moon rather than a true planet.

Ecosystem & Geography

The planet is mostly covered by oceans but does have some very rocky barren archipelagos and islands. The planet's ecosystem is made up of many aquatic species like fish and squid and other aquatic species; the planet also has many aquatic plants like algae and seaweed which provide a food source for many creatures.

Nanosian Center for Scientific Study

The Nanosian Center for Scientific Study is a large scientific research colony on Nanos that is dedicated to the study of the planet and its native inhabitants. It gets funding from the Coalition as well as from independent scientific organizations that are interested in the planet and its future. It is the main location for the study of Nanosian culture and linguistics and is one of the places where contact with Nanosians actually happens.
The building itself is most located inside or attached to the cliff face of the ocean's continental shelf/slope. There are different sections of the facility for different subjects such as an anthropology wing for studying Nanosian culture and another that studies the planet's ecosystem. There is also a section for housing and extracurricular activities.
The scientists who work at the lab get on-site housing and there is a separate dorm wing to house all the scientists that work at the lab, as well as their families if they have any.

Population

The planet's native population is made up of Nanosians and the various aquatic animals and creatures that live in the depths of Nanos’s oceans. There is also a small population of alien species living on the planet, mostly scientists and researchers working at the Nanosian Center for Scientific Study.

Infrastructure

The planet has very minimal infrastructure with the native Nanosians not having developed very far technologically and the Coalition presence being very minimal. The Nanosian Center for Scientific Study was built to be self-reliant and able to grow its own food and supplies only requiring the occasional supply run from off the planet.
