Nanosians are an aquatic species native to Nanos.
Physiology
Nanosians tend to be around seven feet in length, from the top of the head to the bottom of their webbed feet. They have two leg-like limbs, but they have long webbed feet, they are closer to fins, which make it impossible to walk on land but are great for swimming through water.
They have three long spindly digits on their abnormally long hands with webbing in between and sharp claws on the end of each digit. They cannot use their hands like other species, instead using them for steering and swimming through the ocean as well as using them for hunting and gesturing. They also have sharp teeth, also used for hunting and eating.
They are aquatic and have smooth skin, similar to that on an octopus, and come in a variety of colorings but the most common are neutral colors that bend into their surroundings. Have small bioluminescence spots for living in the dark deep ocean, these may be used for scaring predators and bating prey.
Nanosians have gills on their face and neck that allow them to breathe underwater, they must wear adaptors when they want to go out of the water so they can breathe, however, they rarely leave the ocean.
Nanosians have large black eyes, mostly used for sensing any motion in the ocean rather than seeing colors. They mostly rely on sensing movements in the water as well as smell and hearing to learn about their surroundings and any prey in the area.
Nanosians hatch from eggs, normally laid in batches of three or four. They live with their parents, who care for them until they reach maturity and can hunt for food by themselves, even then they still live with their families and hunt in groups they just won’t be as reliant on them.
Other Traits
Nanosains are Carnivores and live on a diet of pure fish and seafood. They tend to eat their food fresh, as in just killed and now being eaten type of fresh and have been observed to hate pre-killed or frozen food.
It is unknown how old they live to be on average, but it is believed from the available research that they tend to on average live at least 100 years old, quite likely longer.
