Shulanites are a sentient humanoid species native to the planet Shulon.
Physiology
Shulanites are humanoid and as such have two arms and two bipedal legs. They have five fingers on each hand and four toes on each foot. They on average stand around five and a half feet tall, with a wide range of variety. Their skin comes in ranges of pink and brown similar to the range of human skin tones; they also have eye colors similar to humans, with the only difference being a strong dark rim around the iris that makes their eyes very striking.
They have vein-like ridge structures on their body, most grouping around their forehead and along their spine and back; women will also commonly have them along their breasts. These ridges tend to be blue or purple in color and may appear quite stark depending on the rest of the individual’s skin tone. These structures are a form of blood vessel, that is part of the vascular system, as such these structures can be quite delicate especially if one is ill or has some condition that weakens the structures. If injured, it is not particularly harmful, but it causes a lot of bleeding due to the amount of vessels and blood in the area.
Shulanites tend to have wavy or curly hair, with straight hair being quite rare among the population. Brown and red hair are the most common hair colors, but their range of hair colors is the same as humans. As for eye color, blue eyes are the most common but black, brown, green, etc colored eyes are also possible.
Shulanites also have blood that oxygenates to look blue-black due to the presence of copper and carbon in their blood cells. Their liver system is also quite different from humans and often requires specialized help.
Other Traits
Multiple births (mostly due to the presence of multiple eggs during ovulation) are the norm in the Sulonite society with twins being the most common, single births and multiple births with more than one offspring are less common. Paternal twins are most common but identical may also happen, especially when it comes to triplets.
The birth of male offspring is also more common than the birth of female offspring leading to some cultural aspects to develop.
