Shulanites are people from or descend from the planet Shulon or the Shulanite species.

Fashion

Shulanite Traditional Fashion
Shulanite fashion, like their culture, has a strong gender divide with many articles of traditional clothing being attributed as masculine or feminine; more modern clothes do have some more androgyny but there is still a lot of influence from the gender divide.
Their traditional fashions, especially their masculine clothing, have been greatly affected and influenced by other planets and interplanetary trends, with everyday shulanite fashions being much more streamlined and changed than the more traditional formal fashions.
When it comes to everyday fashion, masculine clothing from other planets tends to be worn as the more traditional styles are often seen as impractical; feminine traditional fashion is worn daily and tends to be more decorative and flashy, especially for formal events.
Architecture
Due to Shulan being a very urbanized planet, the architecture of the planet is mostly made up of tall skyscrapers and apartment buildings, with smaller houses and buildings only being present in the less built-up or wealthy neighborhoods.
Society
Naming System
Shulanite surnames are traditionally passed down through the paternal lineages, with kids getting the surname of the mother’s husbands (easily done with the practice of fraternal polyandry). More modernly it has been more common for surnames to be passed down maternal lines, especially as non-fraternal polyandry becomes more common and thus makes paternal surnames more complicated.
Gender Roles
For more information see:
Shulanite Gender Roles
Due to the percentage of male births being higher than the percentage of female births, the female-to-male ratio is greatly skewed. This has changed how gender is perceived in the culture, with a very strong gender binary being present in their society.
Modernly their society has become more egalitarian and has worked at dismantling the patriarchy in their culture but it still peeks through at times, especially in terms of ideals and values.
Polyandry & Sexuality
For more information see:
Shulanite Polyandry & Sexuality
The skewed ratio between males and females in the population has affected how Shulanites approach marriage and romantic relationships.
Polyandry, a marriage where a woman will be married to one or more men at a time, is common in Shulanite culture. This has numerous reasons that range from practicality to spirituality, to simply following tradition.
More diverse forms of sexuality, that do not fit into the norm of polyandry, have their own unique positions in society and are viewed differently by society often being seen as odd and having to face discrimination.
