DeadNet

The DeadNet, originally just called the NET, was the original intergalactic datastreaming network that spanned settled space. When the Enclave instigated the Chronos incident, the NET was plunged into chaos. Suddenly administrative AIs and other once unconcious virtual constructs were awakened in the backalleys and corners of the NET. It is believed that these rogue constructs led to the Mechanicus Jihad, a series of uprisings near the begining of the Silence. To counter this, Central Simulation, along with the help of various other organizations established the Omni-Net through a series of walling off the corrupted DeadNet and tying the rest to the gates.
