Ether

The Ether is perhaps best described as a place, existing in parallel to the Mist and the spheres it contains. It is a realm of morphic energy, of dreams and nightmares, which responds to the thoughts and feelings of people.
The Ether is were the gods dwell, shaping the raw energy of potential into fantastic domains in which their servitors and worshippers may dwell, each reflecting the interests of the deity. Pantheons of gods can even pool their powers to create small worlds shaped to their collective whims. As the Ether responds much more strongly to a deity's desires than trying to force a world heart to shaper a sphere to their will, most deities prefer to dwell in an realm in the Ether.
But the Ether doesn't respond just to the desires of deities. The thoughts, dreams, fears and beliefs of mortal beings also impact it. Particularly strong feelings can even cause the Ether to condense, eventually forming a being out of this powerful drive. Numerous types of beings are brought into existence this way. Angel, demon, spectre and others are all reflections of the mortal mind made real in the Ether.
It is theorized that this is because souls are composed of the same, for lack of better term, material as the Ether and thus their is a connection. This theory is also used to explain why, for example, spirit are intangible, as they themselves are made out of the same material and thus more attuned to the Ether than the world of Mist and spheres.
