Law Demon

Where society rises, law is often soon to follow. And anywhere people become invested in the law, turning to it with true belief and support, a law demon might show up.
Law demons, as the name implies, are concerned with matters of law, especially its enforcement. Some law demons join groups of watchmen or guard, where their superhuman toughness and strength serves them well. Others become lawyers and judged, applying the law in court and examining evidence for truth. And yet others join administration, using their vast memory to apply all regulations as required.
Despite the dry subject of their interest and their often prim sense of dress, law demons are very energetic, as is befitting for creatures of emotion. Verdicts are handed out with loud gusto, arguments are put forward with dramatic flair and orders are bellowed out at the highest volume. This behavior often causes the ignorant to underestimate them, but law demons are fiendishly intelligent and very convincing. They have a tendency to come out on top in the end.
As highly magical beings, law demons have several tricks up their sleeve. And order to halt from them can momentarily override rational thought, causing people to momentarily freezing on the spot, even if they really have no reason to obey the demon. Any contracts they create are by nature magical and if signed, enforced by said magic. It is not impossible to break such a contract, but going against its stipulations is a road fraud with ill luck.  Each law demons also manifest a set of four magical hammers. These hammers can be combined into tools of the law, be that investigative equipment or weapons, as needed by the law demon.
Combat is most often engaged in by law demons that choose to enforce the law. They fight tactically and smartly, using their magical talents to the best of their ability and using their demonic toughness to power through most attacks. Their biggest weakness is their aversion to breaking the law and it can be used against them to put them in situations where they are forced to break off engaging with their target.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Law demons are bipedal beings with a humanoid build. Their features are somewhat exaggerated, with well-defined cheekbones, pointy chins and other sharp features. Their skin tends towards either ivory white or ebony black, with eyes, horns and similar details usually then being the opposite. Like most demons, they are exceedingly hard to harm without divine aid and shrug of dark magic like water off a duck's back. If in danger of dying, their body enters a spurt of regeneration to quickly heal them. Thus if one intends to kill a law demon, one must do so quickly or find them getting a secodn wind.

Genetics and Reproduction

Law demons do not reproduce conventionally. Like all demons, they are born in the ether when people's investment and belief the concept of law and order coalescences into a living being, which then descend into one of the spheres. They are capable of intercourse, but law demons are in general very asexual beings.

Growth Rate & Stages

Newly formed law demons quickly seek to understand the rules that governs whatever area they find themselves in and then seek to assist in enforcing them. Their understanding starts out very unnuanced and their worldview is very black and white. The complexities of these subjects begins forming as they gain experience and they become more flexible in their interpretation of the law, even if they never go against it.

Ecology and Habitats

Law demons are an urban species who thrive in societies with courts, law enforcement and bureaucracy. They quickly seek to ingratiate themselves within those structures, especially where its enforcement is concerned, as thus is often found in positions as wardens, enforcers, lawyers or similar.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Law demons are emotivores, who specifically feeds on emotional investment in law. They throw themselves into work and surround themselves by similarly enthusiastic people to nourish themselves. As belief in the law is paramount for their existence, law demons seek to preserve that through two means. Enforce the law and prevent corruption within the system. They don't care if the law is fair or just, only that it is enforced equally.

Law demons readily cooperate for the purpose of upholding the law. The exception of course being in cases where different sets of laws collide, were law demons of different sides, be it nations, societies or whatnot, will fiercely fight one another, be it verbally or physically.

Breaking the law, an action which is not only offensive to a being like a law demon, but actually physically painful if committed by them, to the point that it can actually kill them.
