Golem
The Mist has always fascinated people. It is a substance full of danger and potential, through which other worlds can be found. Exploration of the Mist without navigators has always been extremely hazardous and more than one pioneer has been lost forever or returned forever warped by exposure.
Enterprising mages crafted the first golems as the ideal explorers. A core of captures Mist cave the creation energy and a mind, also protecting it from the ravages of the place. Their minds were designed for obedience, but also with a capacity to determine the best courses of actions. Thus the perfect explorer of the Mist was made.
While this was the role the first golems were designed for, it didn't take long for others to realize they could be used in other ways. The variety of materials they could be made of gave them a lot of different purposes and they could be animated with a minimum of sculpting, unlike many constructs which needed fully functional limbs to operate. Their desire to obey, near endless patience, dulled emotions and similar was also instrumental in ensuring they were perfect servants.
And yet, while most golems takes orders gladly, they are not without minds of their own. Some golems, either out of anger at mistreatment or simply a desire for autonomy, break free and chart their own course. These free golems often find the company of other artificial beings more comforting that living beings, seeing in them others who understand their struggles.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Golems are crated from specific materials and usually done so in a basic bipedal shape, with two legs, two arms and a head. Exceptions do occur. Being a constructed lifeform, they are immune to many common ailments and need neither sleep, food or air to exist. The mist core that animates them also protects them from the mist and gives them an inherent resistance to magic.

The original purpose of golems was in exploring the Mist and act in areas that Mist had contaminated. Due to their inherent resistance to magic also makes them valued assistants in rituals and other such work, where they are less likely to suffer permanent injury. Their generally servile nature also means they are valued as workers and servants in many places.

Golems are often seen as slow or uintelligent due to their often servile nature and lack of emotion in much what they do. Any golem given degrees of freedom in their task, however, quickly demonstrate a calculating and analytical mind. They are also capable of feeling emotions, though in a way that seems rather restrained and low-keycompared to for example humans.
