Crucible of the Flame

Fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord’s house. (Isaiah 7:1-2)
The storiy of the Crucible marks the beginning recorded time, when the power of God was said to have descended upon the holy Mountain of Aishelon. According to religious belief, the Crucible of the Flame is a living entity, said to be the very incarnation of God in the material world. By believers and unbelievers alike, it is recognized as the most sacred artifact ever known to the world, and has been a source of power and wisdom throughout the centuries of later recorded history.   It is taught among the Fae that in The Age of Incarnation, the Crucible was brought forth by the divine Spirit E'Thera, formed from the encircling branches of a great living Valloran tree. The Flame was revealed to the Virgin Matriarch Sariae, leader of a nomadic clan of Fae herdsmen. At that time, the word "crucible" was not yet used, but the Flame was known by the Elvaen word: "Proeleuselas" (meaing: the source of light).   Later, in the event known as the Transfiguration, the crucible was transformed into its present appearance. The Crucible itself has been described a golden disk-like ring of enormous size which hovers horizontally, exactly seven hand-spans off the ground, with no visible sign of support or suspension. From within this metallic ring emanates a brilliant Flame by a source unseen. It is located on a high cliff peak within the land of Aishelon, in a great hall known in Elvaen as Thelmoselas, or the House of the Crucible.   Symbolically, the significance of the Crucible has been interpreted in many ways, by believers and unbelievers alike. For some, the circle of the Crucible represents the physical-material realm, while the Flame within represents the spiritual-ethereal realm. To others, the Crucible is a symbol of the individual human heart, and the Flame which burns within is the power of life. To the Children of Sariae and the people of Aishelon, it is God's own presence on earth — a real tangible incarnation of his faithfulness.   In days to come the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; all the nations shall stream to it. Many peoples shall come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God … that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” (Isaiah 2:2-3)
