GR 07: Keys of Time

During the years of the Witch’s military campaign against the Thurim Citadels, her alliance with the Karshan Lurvites allowed them the freedom to expand their influence north of the Midrun Sea. An Etheric named Gurthan, who lived in a tower near Donlind, discovered an ancient prophetic script that spoke of a renewal of the hidden Light (perhaps a vague reference to the Extinguishing of the Flame).   Gurthan knew that as the "light" diminished, so would ethereal power in the world. Therefore he hurriedly assembled a party of adventurers to go back in time to ancient days, using a readjusted ethereal portal at the tower. His intent was to establish a kind of conduit that would channel ethereal power from the past to the future. To establish this conduit, the party needed to find and assemble a series of ethereal keys. Though the party was relatively successful in their collection of the keys while exploring a number of highly ethereal locales in the ancient past, they were apparently unsuccessful in their mission, and Gurthan was not able to establish his ethereal conduit.   OUTSIDE GAME-TIME: The conclusion of this campaign is somewhat a mystery. It is unknown how the party returned to the present, but evidently it was shortly thereafter that Jovian and Shoam came to the area of the Greenwood.   MEMORABLE MOMENTS: This campaign was a try at adventuring a completely different geographical location, with a more “high-etherea” dungeon-exploration style. Many clever puzzles and traps appeared in this game, including reverse gravity fans and mechanical blade guardians. Throughout the game, it is unclear whether the players or characters ever really knew where or when they were (some have suggested that the party had been sent back to pre-exile Aishelon; others have said that the party was actually transported back to pre-cataclysm Arkhea).
