GR 30: Lost and Found

In the midst of what was known as the Frost War, the influence of the northern Ogrim tribes had spread across the north, with bands of Jötun and Kuldur raiders pillaging the cities and towns across the northern regions. Led by a great Jötun chieftan named “Kagoth the Irontusk,” frost wolves and Kuldur Orgrim destroyed the village of Denleven, and the party was sent to the front to help defend the small fort that remained from the hordes that surrounded it.   Part two of the campaign resumed in the Spring of 3232 in the White Colonies of the northwest (five years after the initial gaming sessions in 3227), at the Irontusk Inn, owned by Surma, who by that time was a well-known war hero.
  • Attack at the Inn
  • Moraven
  • Assassination attempt on Prince Arrathea, and arrest of Talco and Gavin
  • The “real” Surma
  • Race to rescue Twill
  • Being followed
  • Visions of the future (fortune dice)
The battle at the clayfolk cave ended when the Necromancer was pierced by a killing shot from Regnis (the ‘ninja’ fae). Regnis recovered the Necromancer’s equipment, but passed the Blood Dagger to Lietharen. When asked who he works for, Regnis said his master wished to remain anonymous, but his mission was done; he disappeared.   OUTSIDE GAME TIME: Set in the same general area and just prior to the events of GR 4: Mystics of the Owl several non-player characters from that campaign were reintroduced as key figures in this campaign (including the Ranger Kiersis and Master Kellemon). For several games, Jon played a younger version of his character Keldar Weston from GR 28: Dragon Pearl   MEMORABLE MOMENTS: The fake Surma revealed. The aquisition of the Great Sword Niminora.

The Siege of Brinem
Played: January 1, 2017, Community Center - Buffalo, MN
Time Frame: 3227 S.R., Town of Brinem, Noerdewessa   ADVENTURE: At the height of the Frost War, the northern town of Brinem came under siege by barbaric Ogrim forces. The allied city of Mandoreth sent a relief contingent to break the siege, recapture the town, and rescue its people.   COMMENTS: This battle-oriented scenario featured a full town map for use with miniatures, scenery, and props. The open-ended plotline allowed characters to choose their own strategy and tactics, working together or alone. Player sub-groups employed several approaches, each with its own danger and challenges. No player limit was announced prior to the game, which resulted in over a dozen people participating in the game, mainly children. This required down-shifting to a different level of play. Ironically, however, the children proved to be much more decisive and effective players than the adults.
