Narvaina

Narvaina is an influential but tragic figure who was known for great deeds of heroism in his younger years, as a leader among the people of Aishelon. One of the legendary Lords of Aishelon, he led his people to a new land in Wessa. However, in the years that followed, it was said that he descended into madness. In his last days, he had become a cruel and powerful tyrant, feared by many.   Born at the end of the 22nd Century, Narvaina grew up in Aishelon, the son of a noble family in the region of Livathia (aka. Vainio, "land of the fields"). Upon his father's death, Narvaina inherited the Great Sword Elnar, heirloom of his house. Still a young man, Narvaina was a moderately capable ruler, but his real talents lay in warfare and individual combat. He was a man known for being easily offended, and often challanged to a duel those who insulted or disrespected him (though, in such cases, his sense of honor prevented him from using his ethereal advantages.)   With the invasion of the Rakkian army from the south under Urukaan the Great, forces led by Narvaina successfully protected the land of the Crucible from flanking attacks. When these forces were eventually forced to retreat, Narvaina was instrumental in saving the majority of the northern forces by escaping back across the Straits of Shian to Livathia. It was Nairvaina who convinced the Tashani Fae to allow the fleeing Aisheonians to retreat through the gate of Maovorené to the lands of the west (i.e. the Migration of the first Exile, in 2219 SR).   After the death of Lord Liedenkainen, in his failed attempt to assassinate the warlord Urukaan himself, Narviana was able to lead his forces to victory, defeating Urukaan in single combat. The exiled Aishelonians settled for a time in the region around Toblack, until Narvaina led his people south into the lands later known as Karsha (from the word Käärsä, meaning "snout".)   Narvaina's relationship with the Breanni Fae of Toblack was not as positive as it had been with the Tashani. He found his people challenged by the Breanni in every place they attempted to settle. Facing continuing conflict, Narvaina started to become bitter. Some say the fiery Sword of Wrath began to drive his actions. He led a very literal "scorched earth" campaign against those who resisted the Vainite advance. Narvaina quickly gained the reputation as the Lord of Fire -- a terrible and merciless conqueror, wielding flame and destruction across the land.
