Liedenkainen
Lord Leidenkainen was one of the three Lords who defended the Crucible of the Flame in the last days of Aishelon. He wielded Atressa, one of the seven Great Swords of Renown.
Born in northern Wessa in the early 23rd Century, he was given the nickname of "Lempo" by his fellow villagers (roughly translated as "lusty" or "loverboy"). He was known for his handsome features and popularity among young women. It may have been for this reason that Lempo was chosen to be among many young Kainen northerners from region of Leidea to be educated and trained by the Fae of Toblack. He adapted quickly to the Fae culture, learning to value the elegance of a courtly lifestyle.
While still a young man, Lempo showed great prowess as a swordsman. He was chosen by the Fae from among his fellows to carry the Sword Atressa, and represent his people among the Guardians of the Crucible in Aishelon. It was at that time that he became known by the title, Lord Liedenkainen, in reference to his land and people.
In Aishelon, he found that he did not fit well into the highly religious atmosphere among the Keepers of the Crucible. Though ostensibly a member of devout religious order, Lord Leidenkainen's penchant for carousing, gambling, and womanizing were well known. Many considered him unnaturally lucky. No matter where he went, it seemed he never failed to gain wealth, fame, and admirers.
During the invasion of the Rakkian armies and their attempt to capture the Crucible in 2219 SR, Leidenkainen served as the high commander of the armies of Aishelon. It was at this time that he briefly traded swords with King Ilmuran V of Aishelon, bearing Sanctica, the Sword of Light. Though he fought valiantly in the plains of Athel, defending the Crucible against the Rakkian invaders, eventually his forces were overwhelmed. Lord Liedenkainen and his men joined Lord Narvaina in their retreat across the Straights of Shian.
As one of the leaders among the exiles to Wessa, ironically Liedenkainen never made it back to his homeland in Leidea. Whether it was from heroism or arrogance, Leidenkainen attempted to infiltrate the Rakkian lines in an attempt to personally challenge the warlord Urukaan in battle. Unfortunately, his luck ran out and he was killed. The sword Atressa was taken up by his shield-bearer, Kulervo father of Kulurva.
