FROM THE DESK OF SECRETARY MAYA █████ TO HEAD OF RESEARCH JIM BURRELL, 12/7/93, 8:26pm PST: 

I'm pleased with the results of today's experiment, Agent Stephanie Baker having finally mastered one of the rituals from SCP S40-B. Despite taking two months to learn, the results speak for themselves: agent Baker is now capable of turning a target's limb to ash in a matter of seconds. Providing her with extra time to perfect the ritual may have been the most salient factor in its success, although providing live test subjects in the form of agents Dailee and Cisneros may have provided the spark needed to see the ritual through to its completion. Agent Cisneros' mutilation from the ritual is a small sacrifice, but one that can be quickly remedied by the same prosthetic treatments provided to agent Donovan after the incident in Aspen. You have my permission to continue studying agent Baker and her research into S40-B's history, I will allocate Site resources to see if any other copies of this manuscript are in existence. Director Peña is skeptical about your proposition to have other agents study S40-B, for the time being agent Baker will be our lone expert on the manuscript and the sole bearer of any of its side effects.

FROM THE DESK OF SECRETARY MAYA █████ TO SITE 40 DIRECTOR SIMON PEÑA, 12/7/93, 8:33pm PST:

Despite today's resounding success with agent Baker's ritual, I've started hearing rumors among the Site's skeleton crew about overwork and exploitation by the Foundation. Our batch of new hirees won't be ready until next summer, unless we manage to snag another curious civilian like agent Davis our current pool of agents is all we have at Site 40. We've successfully reduced our Site's mortality rates, but more will have to be done to satisfy our agents' more personal needs and prevent potential desertions. 
To that end, I'd recommend we bring a handful of agents with us to Vegas for your meeting with the O-5 Council. A break from the stress of this fall's work will be a much-needed reprieve during the holiday season, and I will be able to supervise them all during your hourslong budget meetings. The final decision is up to you.
