I don't often utilize this ability, but I believe the Mc40's latest mission calls for some divination in case of a TPK-scenario occurs. The Mc40's have survived several deadly scenarios this fall, but I worry that this auction in Denver will attract individuals beyond their abilities. Spying into someone else's pockets has been a reliable means of surveillance ever since I graduated, hopefully it won't fail me now. [FOUR MINUTES OF SILENCE ELAPSE] Alright. [DEEP BREATH] Casting this spell was less pleasant than usual, but I believe I now have unfettered access to all the pockets of interest. We'll start with Samuel... wallet, pager, a local newspaper about upcoming elections in Colorado, nothing exciting here. Lee... car keys, condoms, and the phone number of a woman by the name of Mollie Hamilton. He always finds a way to mix business and pleasure, it seems. Heather... just some makeup and that spacebar she insists on carrying around. I'm glad to see she's found an effective disguise for the scenario, I was worried that her recent family trip to Pittsburgh would distract her from her work but she's proving remarkably resilient in the face of so much trauma. Kat... I see she's the one holding all the interesting details. Apart from her notepad and camera she seems to be holding onto the program for tonight's auction, making my job all the more easier. It seems that Marshall, Carter, & Dark is offering a diverse variety of items:
- A magical sparkplug; we already have one of these in our possession, but perhaps like with SCP S40-C it would pay to have duplicates of the item for future research.
- Sally, one of the many young blonde woman in MC&D's employ; something supernatural must be going on with these women (the Mc40's alone have run into four different women like this), and it's unsurprising that MC&D is making a profit off of them as well.
- A Victorian-style doll in a black dress with blood-red lace; other sites have struggled containing haunted toys, but this seems like the kind of item Director Peña would insist on having.
- A handful of megaladon-sized shark teeth; the Foundation is not a museum, and these items do not require any securing, containing, or protecting.
- Some Viking-age tools marked with runes, referred to as the 'Orkney Instruments' by the program; Scandinavian artifacts are not Site 40's specialty, but perhaps this could be the start of something greater. Runes are an imprecise art when it comes to storing magic, but perhaps Lee could find some utility for them if I can get him to stop focusing on gas station attendents.
- The King in Yellow by author unknown; [UNCOMFORTABLE PAUSE]... I can see now that SCP S40-B was not the only book in Marshall, Carter, & Dark's inventory. Copies of this book have been contained by other Foundation sites in years past, much like with SCP-701the sooner this copy is collected the better.
[A PIERCING SCREECH INTERRUPTS THE AUDIO DIARY, MIXED WITH CRIES OF PAIN FROM MAYA. SEVERAL MINUTES PASS BEFORE MAYA CONTINUES]
There's... something... there. A freak blizzard in Denver... power outages reported throughout the city... something's beyond our power is going on out there. [DEEP BREATH] I hope the Mc40's made the necessary preparations, there's nothing I can do to help them now.
