Since early 1961, Fade Belzer has been the official gradyent for Route 96, filtering the wielder traffic by challenging every new face to an official match, blocking the road for those who fail to defeat him in battle. Belzer has a well-mannered temper, but after all those years of maintaining Route 96, the job never did get any easier, nor were there worthwhile pay raises. Agents who used to patrol the routes more often have vanished, pulled to other areas as needed. As the job became more taxing without much official support from any other gradyents, Belzer has recently become edgy and less patient, making the official route less popular.
