Trokk Clan-Maas

Trokk Clan-Maas

Clan leader of Clan-Maas. Father of Rikke Clan-Maas and Arrikka Clan-Maas. Trokk was known to his people as a conqueror. Following his life's ambition, Trokk forged Clan-Maas from merely a powerful clan amongst rivals to the predominant power on Uba IV.

Early Life

Heritage

Trokk was firstborn and heir to his father, Arrekkar Clan-Maas. Arrekkar was a cunning warrior and charismatic leader, but lacked vision and any knack for strategy. Trokk would develop what skills he could from his father, the martial arts and court diplomacy, while learning the more subtle arts from his mother. At the age of fifteen, Trokk would claim his first kill against a rival clan during a territorial dispute. Fully recognized as an adult by this feat, Trokk would begin his pilgrimage immediately thereafter. He would not return to Uba IV for seven years, plying the trade of a bounty hunter and mercenary under Jabba the Hutt.

Rise of Clan-Maas

Following his father's death at the hand of Uhthrall Clan-Falthra, Trokk assumed control of the clan. Returning to Uba IV, he found that Clan-Maas had been beset on all sides by their regional rivals. Working quickly, Trokk called in a number of collected favors from his former benefactor, gathering a large force of mercenaries and equipment. Instead of waiting for his rivals to make the first move, Trokk struck out decisively, isolating each in turn. The most powerful of these, Clan Rylar, were the first to fall. Slaying their clan chieftain in single combat, Trokk assumed control of the household, quickly subjugating the clan by assuming them as a sub-clan of the larger Maas clan. He then elevated the heir of Clan-Rylar to a high position as a "brother", ensuring that the new clan leader was bound by familial bonds.   This was a pattern that Trokk would follow throughout the conquest of his regional adversaries. Eventually, Trokk would bring the region under total control through such familial bonds. With his home finally secured, Trokk turned his attention to the larger whole of Uba IV, seeking complete dominion over his people.   Surprising the other great clans, Trokk would elect to conquer his next rival through a different battlefield. Proposing a marriage-alliance with Clan-Innutall, whose clan elder had bore only daughters, Trokk would nearly double the size of his holdings. Loar Clan-Innutall, as heir of her clan, would go on to formally cede her birthright to Trokk upon assuming the holdings from her father. It is around this time, in 19BBY of the Republic Calendar, that Rikke Clan-Maas was born. With his line secured through a true-born heir, Trokk turned back to his tried and tested strategy. By the time his son had come of age himself, Clan-Maas had become the largest and most powerful Clan on Uba IV.   This had, however, served as a catalyst for the growth of other large clans following in the style of Trokk's conquest. Clans Falthra and Hotten had, over the course of the intervening decades, assimilated dozens of smaller clans in an attempt to rival Clan-Maas. So it was that Trokk found himself unable to complete his planned reformation of Uba IV, stymied by a stand-off between the three great clans.

Opportunity

With his daughter Arrikka finally of age, Trokk turned his attention to clan Hotten. The clan chieftain of Hotten, Oreg, had lost his wife and infant heir to the Deformity. Sensing an opportunity to finally break the stalemate through a marriage-alliance, Trokk presented Arrikka as a bride-candidate. Oreg, considering another proposal from clan Falthra, would travel to the lands of clan Maas to meet Arrikka. Despite Trokk's best efforts, Arrikka's nature was tempestuous. She rebuffed Oreg, many years her senior and stated plainly her wish to not be married off. Never a doting father, Trokk was quick to quash his daughter's rebellion.   This strong character, however, sparked interest in Oreg Clan-Hotten. Rejecting clan Falthra's proposal, Oreg agreed to enter an alliance with Maas when the marriage was sealed. This would be delayed by an incursion by Imperial Remnant forces, as Arrikka, utilizing a trick of the warrior ethos came to swore a blood pact against the invaders. Trokk, unable to contest the pact without losing face, was forced to support his daughter and make his apologies to clan Hotten.   Worse, his son and heir, Rikke, had begun to speak out publicly of "Reconciliation" with the Yrak Pootzck and the Republic. Though he could not publicly disown his son, Trokk hardened his heart against his heir, redressing him in private. Unfortunately, as the largest of the clans and presumptive future leader of all True Ubese, Trokk was expected to lead the war against the invading Imperials. Unable to break their defenses and only marginally successful in stemming their supply shipments, Trokk has been forced into yet another stalemate.
