Araa
The araa (symbol: Ѧ; code: ARA) is the official currency of 14 of 23 total countries in the Iarta System. The araa is the largest reserve and traded currency in the Iarta System with the Galactic Credit being the second.
Characteristics
Administration
Araa coins and banknotes are administered and managed by the Tazville-based Scionia National Bank (SNB) and the AraaCirca (a composition of central banks in countries that use the araa). The SNB's sole priority is to set monetary policy. AraaCirca is responsible for the printing, minting and distribution of notes and coins.Coins
Araa is divided into 100 cents with coins having a front and back side. Coins were issued in denominations of Ѧ1000, Ѧ100, Ѧ5, Ѧ2, Ѧ1, 50c, 20c, 10c, 5c, 2c and 1c. All coins issued had a common side showcasing the denomination and the etched words "Araa Cent" with the back side showing a map, national monument or scenery of the issuing country. The rarest out of all coin values would be the Ѧ1000, followed closely by the Ѧ100. These two coins are rarely issued in favor of the banknotes but can still be acquired. Due to the differing languages of every country that use the araa, text on the coins are etched in the issuing country's primary language. For example, countries such as United Scionia and Republic of North Damalay have Araa Cent etched in Galactic Basic while countries such as Vaasiland had the text etched in their home language, Vaasish. Commemorative coins with the Ѧ5 and Ѧ2 values are often issued to memorialize events that happen throughout the years such as treaties, national sports events or national heroes. Despite these coins being intended as primarily collector coins, they are a legal tender throughout AraaCirca; however they aren't meant for general circulation.Banknotes
Araa banknotes share a common design with araa coins. The front side shows the value of the banknote along with a graphical depiction of 14 flags to symbolize unity between all the countries that use the currency. The back side of banknotes also show denomination but with a national monument or scenery. Banknotes are issued in denominations of Ѧ1000, Ѧ500, Ѧ100, Ѧ50, Ѧ20, Ѧ10, Ѧ5. Each individual banknote also has it's own color depending on the denomination.Exchange Rate
In the Iarta system, araa can be exchanged for galactic credits and vice versa. However, the ability to exchange these two currencies is only available to operatives within the Iarta System Armed Alliance who are assigned active missions outside of the system. On the contrary, if a civilian does happen to acquire galactic credits, they can do so at any local bank since credits are the second largest currency in the Iarta system.Currency Specification Tables
