Tillo is a warm, dramatically varying world located in the inner reaches of the Tillo System of Reena Province. It has one moon, Eydís, on which most hyperspace-capable business takes place. Tillo and Eydís are considered the domain of four Baronies in total, all of whom swear fealty to Countess Cressida Voraigner of House Vorreena. The northern land mass is a single Barony, the southern land mass is a single Barony, the oceans and islands within are a single Barony, and Eydís is a single Barony in addition to being the Province Seat for Voraigner Province.
It is within the standard gravity range of typical inhabited planets in the galaxy.
Local days are twenty-five standard hours long.
Local years are two hundred eighty-five local days long.
Tillo has a Type I atmosphere: Breathable for most species. A type I atmosphere has a proper mixture of oxygen, nitrogen and other gases so that humans and most near-human species can breathe it unassisted. These atmospheres may have contaminants that over the long term have a detrimental effect, especially among species with narrow or short particle filtration systems in their breathing systems.
The axis of the planet is offset approximately twenty-eight degrees to the orbital plane, causing noticeable seasonal variation throughout the local year but seldom achieving significant snowfall outside of the mountains and plateaus on the southern hemisphere, or at the narrow ice caps on the planet's poles. Temperatures average between -5 and 29 degrees Celsius, and is in the most comfortable temperature bands for humans and many near-human species.
The sentient population of Tillo was counted in the census of Tapani Year 12730 as 7.8 million.
The planet is approximately sixty-seven percent covered in land. The planet has a large continental mass on its southern hemisphere connected by multiple isthmuses to the smaller continental mass of the northern hemisphere and several large islands, but by long tradition all coastal zones within thirty miles of the continents' beaches must be left undeveloped. Five domed cities are located in the oceans and a variety of town-sized to farm-sized domes connect by tubes to the cities and the surface platforms. Especially to the south, dry plains and tundra prevail. Expeditions are strongly advised to carry extra water.
The primary starport for Tillo is located on Eydís in the sublunar city Voraldric. It is a Standard Class starport. The starport is fully-staffed and equipped. Restocking services are available, and there is a small shipyard for minor repairs and modifications. Ships and crews not registered as native to Reena Province or otherwise belonging to House Vorreena will pay tourist prices for repairs and modifications which can be up to triple normal prices, but probably will take no longer than necessary to accomplish.
Natural Resources
Tillo derives most of its economic growth from luxury goods, particularly highly valued native varieties of the mustard plant as a spice, an ingredient in the recipes of many cultural dishes across the Galaxy, a tisane for certain mild health concerns, a pest deterrent, or a natural fabric dye. Hyperspace-capable ships that will land on Tillo must first be carefully inspected in orbit for biological hazards to the mustard crops. Planetary Defense is incredibly strict about that. Nine court cases are documented with the Order of Solicitors wherein a ship with an active emergency beacon was denied planetary landing clearance because the biohazard inspection had yet to be conducted, and in each case, the court found in favor of Tillo Planetary Defense according to Reena Province Law.
