Amber Lazuli
Amber Lazuli is the main villain of Arc 1 of Heart of Crystal. A descendant of the Lazuli royal family, she believes she is entitled to the throne of Stellara, currently ruled by the Rosettas. Rather than simply charge in and take over, however, Lazuli intends to study those in her way to figure out their weaknesses and, from there, figure out the best strategy to take power.
Essentially, she treats the Evil Overlord List as her code of operations. Beware.

Lazuli's sexuality remains unclear, though it seems she is far more interested in ruling the Kingdom of Stellara than pursuing a romantic or sexual relationship.
Intellectual Characteristics
Lazuli is a master manipulator, capable of playing even the chessmasteriest of chessmasters against each other to accomplish her goals. She is especially good at adjusting her plans on the fly should their original incarnations show signs of failing.
Morality & Philosophy
Amber believes that if you're going to do something, you might as well do it right. She has seen firsthand the failures of others to accomplish their goals, and does not intend to make the same mistakes.
While no literal version of the Evil Overlord List actually exists on Starlo, some equivalent clearly does, and she has made it her rules to live by.
Taboos
Despite her absolute lack of hesitation to gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss her way through any situation, she does appear to refrain from outright killing her adversaries, though it is unclear why.

Relationship Reasoning
It was, of course, Amber who freed Talyx from an artifact she was trapped in for possibly tens of thousands of years, and in return Talyx has sworn to serve her. Initially, Amber only released Talyx for the sole purpose of utilizing her power, but over time begins to genuinely care about Talyx's wellbeing.
