The Bloody Feast
One of the many predictions of the coming end times. It is unlikely to come to pass, of course, as no prediction of the world ending has come true so far. Will it end is fire, in ice, in water, in Void? Or, as this myth suggests, will it end in blood?
The origin of this myth isn't known to us currently, though most scholars trace it back to Venus some time in the 3100s. There is a suspected link between the Bloody Feast myth and the God known as Thorn, but that has yet to be proven. It does, however, highlight that no much is known about the supposed cannibalistic side of Thorn. Further study into this field is, of course, needed. Things like this are becoming harder to study these days, of course. The Void continues to press in on all sides, making time itself seem less and less stable. I think I know how the world ends. I think I dreamed it. Damn those books. Damn those Witches.
The Bloody Feast, if it occurs, will take place at the true end of physical reality. All but a few remaining people will have ascended. They will have been reborn. Those that remain will be those that are far too rooted in this reality. Those that are unwilling to ascend. I wonder, will I be one of them? I think not. I think that future is still so very far away. Billions of years away, when the sky is empty and those that are left are screaming into the Void. We think it will be soon, only because it seems there are more and more Witches every day. Except, it will take time for them to spread over the entire universe. It will take time before their blood-drenched magics are as natural breathing to almost all left alive.
Maybe there will be waves. More Witches and then less and then more again. Over and over until the final tide overwhelms us all. I fear that final tide, but it is a long way off. It can only reach me through the dreams, where the thin fabric of time is less....there. Less real. Ever since I read those damn books.
When the final day dawns, a God will appear. This is the one that many believe could be Thorn. I am inclined to agree. Their eyes are so clear in those dreams. I think that they truly see me.
The God will gather those left. They will offer a way to ascend. And some will choose it. Those that do not, will be given the option to fight the God. If they can defeat the God, they will be allowed to continue, and with them, reality will remain for just a moment longer. But the God is a God, and they are hungry. They will defeat every single one with ease and they will have their final feast. Bones, blood, flesh, everything tearing beneath their terrible teeth.
Their face will be stained with blood as they eat, and they will look up to the empty heavens. They will finish their meal, and they will laugh to themselves. They will look me in the eyes. Oh, Void, they will look me in the eyes and they will smile. And then, they will leave. I do not know where they will go. I do not know anything. I wake, yet again. All who have written of this event cannot continue it past that point. Where will they go? Where is left to go? All living things will be gone. The universe will be at its end. There will be nothing left. Nowhere left to go.
Perhaps then they will wake up.
