Peacock Shell Glider

A particularly dangerous variant of Shell Glider.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They appear much like the common Shell Glider, except they have a colorful rainbow colored shell. They also possess a powerful punch, using their claws to take out prey and even Rocs that attempt to hunt them.

Growth Rate & Stages

Peacock Shell Gliders will migrate down the mountains to their ancestral swamp or lake in order to breed and lay their eggs. Once hatched, they follow the growth and development of the normal Shell Glider almost exactly, with the exception that once they emerge from their chrysalis, they immediately fly towards the nearest mountain top or range.

Ecology and Habitats

Peacock Shell Gliders, unlike their common brethren, live high in the mountains, flying through the skies in search of prey and opponents.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Rainbow Shell Gliders mostly eat meat from their hunted prey, including Jackalopes, Mountain Goats, and even Rocs.

Behaviour

Highly aggressive and territorial, they will go out of their way to fight and kill any aggressor using their powerful punch. Otherwise, they will only hunt when hungry, eating their fill and leaving what ever is left behind.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Rainbow Shell Gliders have the ability to see a vast array of colors, far beyond the realm of most other species. It is thought that they can even see the flow of magic, as they are notoriously difficult to hit with spells.

Conservation Status
While not in any real danger of extinction or over hunting, many try to capture or breed Rainbow Shell Gliders for use as flying mounts. This is extremely difficult due to their aggressive nature and the fact that they can and will simply fly away without proper training or incentive to stay.
