“Hiiiii Osrin it’s me, Cal — you know, the cleric — anyway just trying this new thing to see if you’re alive or not, let me knowwwww…”
Cal is a cleric devoted to
Bahamut, and an "acquaintance" (a strong word, at best) of
Osrin's. The party became aware of Cal after she started sending Osrin messages — the first contact from the outside world they'd had since arriving in
Barovia, and how they discovered that time in Barovia doesn't seem to sync up with their home plane. Cal has a habit of rambling, but seemed eager to help, passing on messages and following leads as delivered by Osrin.
For nine days, Osrin heard nothing from Cal — starting on their first full day in Vallaki and ending on their last day at the winery before heading south for Yester Hill.
In that time, it seems over a year passed, and Cal seems to have grown considerably in power, based off the number of messages she's now capable of sending in a single day. (Osrin doesn't realize this, but we do.) She also seems to have matured somewhat, though whether her newfound concision is a permanent thing or a temporary state born of fear of another year with no contact is hard to say. In the last year, Cal seems to have learned a decent amount about Barovia and Strahd, though it seems most of that research has currently fallen to
El'zai,
Gritsk, and
Maivialar.
Osrin hasn't heard from Cal in several days; the group's current theory is that the lack of synced time between Barovia and Faerûn has switched up, so only one day has slowly passed in Faerûn over the last several in Barovia.
