Renaer Neverember
Renaer Neverember is the son of the Lord Protector of Neverwinter and former Open Lord of Waterdeep, Dagault Neverember. He has a complicated relationship with his tyrant of a father, but has been instrumental in a lot of the major events in Waterdeep, including aiding in the recovery of the money embezzled by his father.
Sylvain and Renaer have been friends in Waterdeep for about 7 years and meet up often for drinks or to enjoy theatre performances. There are... other complicated elements to their relationship due to Sylvain's previous occupation, but their friendship has been close despite the strange circumstances.
While less intimately acquainted (emotionally and otherwise), Renaer has also known Osrin for a few years through their work in the Harpers. As Osrin was not based out of Waterdeep, they only met occasionally, and only then in a work capacity, but enjoyed each other's company well enough. Renaer is one of those rare people who knows when to shut up and when not to take someone's silence as a personal insult, which made him a much better Harper to be paired with Osrin than most.
Renaer invited Sylvain and Osrin to a tavern opening — in Sylvain's case, to meet the people who saved his life and many other lives in the city, and in Osrin's because he figured she might find fried scorpions and eel jar amusing — only for the two of them to be kidnapped by the Fey.
