Isles and Atolls
Land
There is no solid land in Theslia, with the exception of the Isles and Atolls, which float in the Region of Earth due to their embedded Skystone. The rest of the land fell during the Sundering and was swallowed by the Region of Void.Isles
An Isle consists of a thick layer of bedrock, embedded with large quantities of Skystone. Atop the bedrock, there are layers of earth in which plants grow, forming forests and fields. Water comes from either rainfall, magically through artificial irrigation, or through naturally occurring Elemental Aquifers, with water peculating in from the Region of Water. Isles are attracted to the Crystal Spire , and have naturally stable orbits. It is very unusual to encounter an Isle with a rogue orbit, or one that is tumbling. Those that were unstable have long ago crumbled and fallen to the void.Atolls
Atolls are similarly constructed to Isles, but are much smaller. They are always grouped, huddled near an Isle and orbiting with it. Most Isles the size of Atolls have crumbled, without the guiding influence of the Isle to keep its orbit stable. Some atolls are small enough to be little more than jagged barren rock, while others are large enough to support a small community. The most famous example of atolls are the ones surrounding the Isle of Baramore, connected to it by their Swinging Bridges.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
