Drauk (Draw-k)
Drauk is ruled by High King Mesilanga Steelbrand. Drauk is made up of a collection of clans ruled by petty kings and queens. The clans elect a High King or Queen from one of these petty kings and queens to rule the country. They can gain votes through shows of strength, popularity, diplomacy, or holding members of other clans hostage. There have only been two High Queens in Drauk. High Kings don't last long if they are seen as weak or lose a war. Assassination of the High King is common. Honour is gained through battle and fighting prowess is held in high regard.
Drauk has a contentious relationship with the neighbouring countries because the clans regularly raid across the border. It also has regular skirmishes with the Kingdom of Elath to test the mettle of their soldiers and gauge whether they would possibly be able to take back the Fenlands and land lost during the Flint foot war. The clans raid the See of Frelor every summer. The Principality of Obros is less wealthy close to their shared border, so is raided less frequently by Drauk. Pewhiyrhiel's Iron Fortress prevents raiding across their short border with Drauk.
Drauk is a warm and rugged land, with stony cliffs and shores. The land isn't as good for farming, which is why the raiding culture developed. They're also rumoured to turn to piracy regularly too, though clan colours aren't flown by these ships.
