Followers of the Ancient Light
Followers of the Ancient Light. Now defunct. This was an ancient religion of Urzor, once the primary religion, but they were purged from Frelor when The Order of the Holy Flame took power, for heresy as they followed a different path from the Holy Flame and refused to stray. If there are any of this order still left, they are likely living a covert life in other countries.
Divine Origins
Before the Order of the Holy Flame, the was the Ancient Light. Their founder Hierophant Conall Torhana was a simple goat herder who one day saw Urzor as the dawn's light reached him one sunrise. He received visions and named it the Day of Swefn. From that day he preached the word and built a monastery- the Eoan Temenos (Temple of the Sunrise)- north of Iluro in the mountains of Frelor. As word spread and the sect grew, more monasteries were built in the mountain range.
The Followers of the Ancient Light were destroyed in the Asterge Interrim by the Order of the Holy Flame as heretics.
Tenets of Faith
The Followers of the Ancient Light focused on anagogy - elevating their mind to celestial things. They believed in balance above all else. They were known to possess great sage wisdom as well as arcanum knowledge, so people would often trek to their monasteries to gain wisdom and answers. The Ancient Light also had occasional followers who were particularly strong at prophecy.
Worship
Little is known of their worship practices except that they
sang an Aubade (a song to evoke the sunrise) each morning to Urzor.
