Eracone Empire

Originally the three kingdoms of Eracone, Strakra, and Merlon.
Strakra, being near the Prismatic Mountains, is mainly a mining province (formerly Kingdom) that is inhabited mainly by Dwarves with Halfling farming villages dotted all around. The southern-most City is actually a H.U.C.S. controlled City-State called Trokla on the northern coast of the Iris Sea. In 1080 A.R.H. and until otherwise stated, the Walking Kingdom of Calisen is located within Strakra.
Eracone, is a mainly human populated province that holds the Capital of the Empire as well as many military strongholds and farming villages. In 1080 A.R.H. and until otherwise stated, some of the strongholds are being demilitarized and converted into new towns/villages.
Merlon is the home of the High Elves. These Elves find the pursuit of knowledge in all things to be the most honorable pursuit. From Arcane magic to Religion, they seek knowledge from everywhere. It is in fact because they were worried that knowledge would be lost that they surrendered to the Eracone Empire. Most religious leaders from Merlon are seen as the High Clergy in the Eracone Empire. Most magic users within the Empire live in Merlon. To the western most City in Merlon is the H.U.C.S. controlled City-State of Atheaum, on the eastern coast of the Iris Sea.

History

In 930 A.R.H. the Human kingdom of Eracone invaded and took over the Dwarvan Kingdom of Strakra to the west, under the rule of King Arde Talon I. King Arde fell in battle in 940 A.R.H., and was succeeded by his son, Shen who, while only 15 years old found Victory in his father's campaign. Shen then became the first Emperor of Eracone. Shen then set his sights on the Elven Kingdom to the South, but they put up no resistance and is now known as "Shen's Bloodless War". Shen eventually died of old age in 1005 A.R.H. and his son, Arde II, became the 2nd Emperor of Eracone. Arde II tried to conquer Travanire to the Southeast of Merlon, but due to the small heavily defended area that leads to Travanire, the Empire was repelled 3 consecutive times. The people of the Empire believe it was during this time that Arde II became hateful towards non-humanoid, or beast-like, races in the world. To the Southwest of Merlon is a giant marsh known as "Hollow Mire", while Travanire's defenses were very strong, if a military troop could get through the mire, they could get around Travanire's defenses. However, the Triton people of the H.U.C.S. that lived in the mire had allied themselves with Travanire and launched guerilla warfare on the Empire causing Arde II to give up on his Campaign. Due to his hatred of the Triton people specifically in 1025 A.R.H., Arde II tried to shut down the port City-States of Trokla in Strakra and Atheaum in Merlon that are controlled by the H.U.C.S. This caused a 3 year trade deficit in the Kingdom that only ended due to Arde II dropping dead and his son, Marq, succeeding him. Marq then began the "Era of Reconciliation" in the Empire. Marq gave Trokla and Atheaum back to the H.U.C.S. and began trying to establish better relations with them and the Kingdom of Travanire. However, in the years leading up to 1080 A.R.H. (the time during which Player Campaigns begin), raids from the Bandit's of Kherghul have been coming from over the Prismatic Mountains to the West of Strakra with dragon welplings. Many of Emperor Marq's advisers believe that Kherghul is obtaining these Dragons from Delorika to the South of the Prismatic Mountains. While Marq has told his advisers and his people that this a unsubstantiated claim, he still is unsure. Marq is nearing the end of his time as Emperor (by 1080 A.R.H. he is in his late 70's) and he will be succeeded by his daughter, Rhea. The Advisers are wary of Rhea as they feel that while Marq was soft, Rhea is softer still.
