Travanire

(Be aware that this is a WIP)   Daylight has not touched this kingdom in over 300 years.   The Baronies are as follows:
  • Knelldale is the most Central Barony in Travanire, being just Southwest of the Capital past the Black Forest. Its castle is based to the Northwest of Twilight Lake, a shared border lake between Laramose and Travanire. Made up of farmlands it is in constant need of support from the the magicals in the Kingdom to help the crops grow. The Barony Family based here is the Montfort Family. As of 1080 A.R.H. the current Baron and Baroness are the young Lawrence and Abigal Montfort, a Halfling couple. (French)
  • Alard is the Barony to the North of the Capital along the Coast. Its castle is based on a coastal outcropping. It lies on the outskirts of the Bloodwood. There are a few mines that find precious and magical gemstones dug along the coast that the Vescivo Family oversees. As of 1080 A.R.H. The Baron and Baroness are Edward and Catherine Vescivo, a Human couple. They look rather young, despite being middle-aged. (Spanish)
  • Sullen is the Barony to the West of Alard and Northwest of the Capital. Its castle is 20 miles south of the border to the Eracone Empire. This is a very militarized and defensive Barony. From 1006 A.R.H. to 1024 A.R.H., the Eracone Empire tried 3 consecutive times to break into the border of Travanire. Ever since, the Barony Family based in Sullen, the Bayard Family, have had the most qualms and distrust of the Empire ever since. The Bayard's are on very good terms with the H.U.C.S., because to the west of Sullen is the Hollow Mire, a land controlled by the H.U.C.S. They supported Travanire and helped repel back the Empire during Emperor Arde II's Campaign. As of 1080 A.R.H., the Baron of Sullen is James Bayard, an Elf. There are rumors he is courting a Triton woman. (German)
  • Fessox is a mostly overlooked Barony in terms of land as all that there are are a few large cattle ranch villages and a few large lumberyards near the Black Forest. However, Fessox shines in its influence on diplomacy. It borders both the H.U.C.S and Laramose. Most foriegn travelers are found here and most diplomatic missions in Travanire are based here. It is based to the Southwest of Sullen and North of Knelldale. Its castle is based just outside the western ridge of the Bloodwood and North of the Black Forest. As of 1080 A.R.H., the Baron and Baroness are Arthur and Mary Waldeve, a Human and Drow couple in their early 30's. (Britain)
  • Duskshire is a hill range mining Barony. It is based West of Knelldale, the castle based Southwest of Twilight Lake which is a shared border lake of Laramose and Travanire. Unlike the Barony of Alard, these mines are dug for resources rather than gems. It's mainly populated by Grey Dwarves and Deep Gnomes. As of 1080 A.R.H., the Baroness is Janice Espec, a middle aged Deep Gnome. (Celtic)
  • Darkfall used to be a Barony South of Knelldale and Duskshire. The ruins of the Drow City Brightspire lie within Darkfall. Darkfall is the head of the area to the South of Laramose called, "The Scar". (Roman)
  • As of 1080 A.R.H., the Crimson Sage is King Richard Peveril V.   The Endless Night of Travanire has a distinct look at the borders of the country. It looks as though storm clouds are constantly gathering and once you travel to the other side of the storm clouds the sky is in a constant state of night. The stars still move as normal, there is just no sun.

    Structure

Travanire is a Monarchy with 5 (formerly 6) Baronies. The King is known as "The Crimson Sage". The Royal Family has a Sorceror Bloodline, as do most of the Baron Families, with the exception of the Vescivo family and the Montfort family.

    History

The Kingdom of Travanire was founded in 610 A.R.H., by a sorceress named Ophelia Peveril, in an attempt to unite the lands South of the Hollow Mire and West of Laramose, who was gaining control of many lands at the time.   In 760 A.R.H., the Baron of Darkfall and Drow Necromancer, Norman Blackire cast a spell of his own making that caused an Everlasting Darkness in Travanire. This spell, while having succeeded in its purpose, backfired onto Norman and the entirety of Darkfall and Southern Laramose. All the people living in these areas (including the Drow city of Brightspire) just vanished and the land died. Due to Travanire and Laramose having no idea what happened they almost went to war thinking it was one or the other having attacked, however during discussions in Fessox at the time they agreed it was an isolated incident as Norman Blackire was a known Necromancer. It was because of this incident that Laramose and Travanire, who were the only countries that still allowed the practice of Necromancy, to ban this study of magic.
