Silsa (a.k.a. Sil)

Silsa is the Nalysian-born, Tinobi-raised, @Nirja-Shiften that serves as one of the two romantic interests of Book 6 of the Syshir Siblings, Oren's book.
A botanist by trade, Silsa is one of the sweeter romantic leads of the Syshir story. Sweet and sensitive, Silsa is often underestimated given how quiet she is in general company. For the most part, it's because she prefers to think everything through before speaking. She'd rather listen than blurt something out, consider carefully than take a risk too early. Once she does speak, however, she's a kind, sensitive soul who thinks of others before she thinks of herself. A little scatterbrained, a little 'floaty', Silsa can easily get lost in her work with plants. It's her happy place.
Her particular brand of botany involves her travelling the world with her research. Although one day, she may like to settle down - have a cottage, her own garden, her own greenhouse and propagation centre - her foreseeable future involves exploring as much of the natural world that she can get access to.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Round-faced with full cheeks and an expressive mouth, Silsa is often considered at first glance to be 'cute'. She's naturally pretty, with fine features, freckles that look more like an embellishment than a consequence of too much sun, and bright eyes that show whatever her mouth is holding back. While Silsa doesn't consider herself to be sexy or beautiful, there's an alluring quality to her height and her curves. She's womanly, with a certain naïveté that's compelling, rather than immature. Thick, hair curls at just above shoulder height, in a default bob style that doesn't require 'taming'. Anything other, however, is nigh impossible to do, no matter how many potions or products Silsa attempts. For the most part, she doesn't bother - Silsa likes pretty things, but doesn't often feel a need to be one of those things herself.

Apparel & Accessories

As an Archivist of The Library, Silsa should be seen wearing the jecapachal at nearly all times. She's not one to desire to break rules, but the uniform often gets dirty while she's on hands and knees in the dirt peering at some unique plant, so she doesn't wear the jecapachal as often as she should.

Sexuality

Silsa wouldn't ever put a label on her own sexuality. It's not overly common to do so in Tinobian culture, and intimacy isn't something that's spoken about openly in Nalys. In terms of Earth-standards, she'd be on a pansexual/demisexual spectrum.

Employment

An Archivist of The Library with a speciality in botany, Silsa began training near-immediately after her first shift. Although there are other professions on Tinobi, none are quite as revered as the Archivist ranks of The City. It was her luck, as a young woman, that had her father moving to The City to be with his new partner, that allowed her the ability to find the necessary connections to apprentice there. Silsa is a studious, intelligent, dedicated individual, and it's no different when it comes to her research at The Library.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Daein - Silsa's best friend, Companion and life-partner. Daein is a Tinobi-native, and one of the rare few that does not have the ability to shift. As such, she's also one of the only non-Shiften Companions currently in the employ of The Library.

Family Ties

Half-Nalysian and half-Tinobian, when Silsa's Nalysian mother died, her father returned with her to Tinobi so she would be around other Shiften when her first shift came upon her. Her father need not have rushed, Silsa was nearly eighteen by the time she was first able to complete a full shift, half a decade behind what's considered 'typical' in Shiften society. It was considered, at the time, that her half-mage blood may have muddied the waters.
A few years after her father returned to Tinobi with Silsa in tow, he entered a domestic partnership with another Shiften (not a native Tinobian, but from the Shattered Isles), and they had three children together.

Religious Views

Like most Shiften, Silsa feels a connection to the domain of Landstrider. In addition, Silsa was raised with a healthy respect for Inae'en who is both feared and revered by the native peoples of Sielu'montanye. Finally, Silsa feels a personal attachment to Warrenhold given what she's read and studied of the deity from before The Barrier's creation. Recent history surrounding the actions of his followers on the world leave a lot to be desired.

Speech

Raised in Nalys until she was ten years of age, Silsa still sports parts of the flowing, lilting accent of the middle-class Nalysian majority.
