The "Governors" Mansion
Sitting atop a hill, overlooking the makeshift buildings below, the "Governor's Mansion" is the tongue-in-cheek name of the home of Joseline, the leader of the pirates who have begun to inhabit the Bastard Islands.
Purpose / Function
It is both the home of Joseline, the Cutthroat Countess, and her place of business when not at sea. Offices of various purposes have been built, although many of them are empty or are seldom used. To fulfill her impersonation of nobility, a large empty space was dedicated in the building to be a ballroom, though no such ball has ever occurred among the pirates who reside here.
Architecture
The Governors Mansion, like the other structures built on the Bastard Isles, is constructed primarily from parts of old ships. Where the other buildings are largely hodge-podged together and made to look normal, Joseline sought to, as much as she could, take apart an immense Ship Of The Line that she captured from the Intransican Empire and rebuild it on land as her 'mansion'. The important part for her was the exterior; the outward image and perception of having such a mighty ship torn apart and used this way. The interior structures were more negotiable and adjusted to suit being on land and Joseline's noble ambitions.
One aspect that she kept intact from the captured ship is that the bedroom and personal quarters is in the rear, as far away from where visitors are to enter and congregate as possible.
Defenses
Both as a means of bravado, and possibly of desperation, all of the 36 guns in the ship were kept with her upon being turned into a building, and are pointed downard. The position of the mansion and the guns would easily allow heavy firing upon any non friendly ship entering port. A few who have noted Joseline's emotional outbursts and her dangerous reputation have also pointed out that she could just as easily use them to shoot at her fellow pirates, should the mood take her...
