Seeker Initiation
"Once they don those masks, they are lost."
-A common sentiment held by the Drakai and others on the initiates of the Seekers.
Within the cult known as The Seekers of the Fallen Dragon, their initiation ceremony is one of the simplest, yet most impactful rituals. As it's name suggests, this ceremony marks the point at which an initiate is considered a full-fledged member of the Seekers, having proven themselves ready and willing to give everything in the pursuit of freeing their draconic master, Kythoran. Due to the criminalised nature of the Seekers within Dranya, as well as the Drakai in general, participation in this ritual is considered to be a moral failing on the part of those involved and any Drakai who have gone through with it are considered to have gone hopelessly astray.
Execution
Once the Speaker overseeing their local stronghold has deemed the newest recruits to their ranks fit for initiation, they are instructed to gather in the main hall the following day. On the day of the ceremony, the initiates, in view of the other fully-initiated members, and under the supervision of the Speaker, are made to swear an oath of loyalty to the Seekers and their cause, an oath that's cemented with the donning of their new masks, signifying the begining of their new life as one of the Seekers. From this moment forward, the new initiates are entitled to all of the rights and responsibilities of the cult, including the ability to advance through the ranks, as well as being allowed to travel beyond their stronghold on assignment.
Components and tools
The initiates being sworn in must be wearing the vestements of their order, and are presented with the ceremonial masks that they will use from that day forward at the ceremonies conclusion.
Participants
The initiation ritual is overseen by the local Speaker (or High Speaker if it's taking place in their main stronghold), and all members of the stronghold are in attendance to witness the initiation of their newest members.
Observance
The initiation ritual is held when the overseeing Speaker decides the new recruits have proven themselves worthy of being fully accepted into their ranks.
