Gheronos Fain
Gheronos "Gallant Gale" Fain, Master of The Maudlins, hails from the bustling city of Gustamor in the Duchy of Romisbanian. In the labyrinth of his past, one may find more twists and turns than in the finest play: Born to a family of modest means, his parents were artisans, chipping away their lives on finely crafted woodworks that adorned the noble homes. Yet, young Gheronos was always enchanted by tales, spun by traveling bards that frequented the local tavern. He was intoxicated by the mirth, the romance, the tragedies that unfolded in their stories, and at the age of fifteen, he set off on his own, against his parents' wishes, to join a ragtag band of performers.
Life on the road has proven challenging, yet an unending adventure. Gheronos learned the art of performance, the subtleties of a well-delivered line, the magic of capturing an audience’s attention and heart. More than that, he discovered his fluidity in love and attraction. Amidst the camaraderie of shared hardships and victories, he had romances both with beautiful maidens who flocked to their performances, and a discrete handful of handsome lads. "Shame for all this beauty to go to waste!", a frequent refrain of his.
One of his dalliances resulted in the birth of his beloved daughter, Hedaras. Though not traditionally wed to her mother, Zygiri, he has an understanding with her and ensures the safety and comfort of both she and Hedaras by regularly sending money.
Gheronos is also notorious for a passionate affair with the wife of a prominent nobleman (who, to avoid scandal, has not publicly declared this; hence, his identity is not generally known, but whispers circulate among the Maudlins about who it might be. Some say Os Vildun, Duke of Castamomera, others, Viscount Moros Torla. Any any case, seemingly oblivious of the identity of his wife's lover, the noble in question put a bounty on the head of the unknown romeo, turning Gheronos into a wanted man in certain regions. His profile is prominent enough that some authorities are closing in, though the mobile lifestyle of the Maudlins has made it much easier for him to squeak out of these close calls.
Gheronos' is currently in a long-standing relationship with Esta Dovetail, the Maudlins' leading lady.
Throughout his life, Gheronos also maintained a close friendship with Souzhane Marcato, a female bard of great repute. Their bond of shared love for storytelling and the arts has been a constant in Gheronos' life of flux. For years, he has been trying to convince her to join the Maudlins.
