Legend has it that on the eve of the Battle of Nine Horses, Occlose the Victor found himself so overwrought by the long campaign trail that he declared the war must come to an end. His generals and his sons pleaded with him, urging him towards this one final victory, but it was of no use. His mind was made up. It was then that his humble servants gathered round him. They prepared him a hot bath, fetched fine food and drink, groomed Occlose and brought him before a mirror. “Behold our Emperor!” they cried. Reinvigorated, he vowed to join the fray for the common people, and thereafter struck down Dulavei, the last and mightiest of his remaining foes, on the hills of Vidshicanna. In recognition of their efforts, Occlose invited the servants to live in the hallowed Tent of Honour, no longer requiring them to sleep and eat at his side.   Salardac later proved the tale a mere invention of nobles who during The Plague Years (1212-1112) wished to expel all possibly infectious bodies from their midst; however the legend, and the tradition it began, have held on tenaciously. Today, the Honourtent district houses the servants of the noble houses of Oddgarden. The area contains a small market, more conveniently located and less busy than the one in Bent Coin, and several living quarters, mostly owned by the Davinet family. Though servants are paid well, the nobles reclaim a large share of their salaries through rent, the paying of which is meant to convey a sense of independence and pride. Due to cultural mores, gender and marital status determine which building one may live in, although it is possible to rent better quarters, inspiring ambition among the staff to both save their pennies and work harder towards potential promotion. Young families are also given an extra 10 Sovernals for each baby born to them, in part because such children, as beholden members of a House, effectively expand the workforce.
