Eremel City
Eremel City is the oldest city of the elves where it is often called the Origin City by elves. Eremel is the second largest city by land area and population in the Kingdom of Talevesh.
Demographics
Eremel City is the original city of elves. Therefore, the city's population is mostly elves and it was like that for a very long time. However, in the last 2-3 hundred years, many people from the declining Farghul Empire started coming to Eremel. These people were previously conquered by the Empire and are refugees coming to the safety of Talevesh.
So, Eremel City has many more people from any different races in the city. Most of these people live in the southern wards of the city. As many of the Elves whose clans had lived here for thousands of years don’t like the other races and want the “lesser races” to live somewhere else. So they kicked out many refugees to the much worse reaches of the city.
Government
Eremel is led by six clans that were given power by Hazelia. These clans are: Aldtyrme, Nadriedel, Yindan, Diamara, Lothenar, and Elarora. These six clans have “taken turns” ruling the city of Eremel throughout history. While they all work together and are all powerful, there is usually one ruling clan that truely administrates the city.
The clan who leads the city is called the Executive Clan. This clan and therefore the whole city is led by its family head titled Lord/Lady Magistrate. This clan, as its name suggests, has the executive power in the city and its greater territories. They’re main job is to enforce law and order in the city. Each clan has its own general duties as well. Currently the lead clan is the Aldtyrme Clan led by Lady Magistrate Qamara Aldtyrme.
While Eremel City is a part of Talevesh, it is ruled by its own local government like many cities and towns. The Government of Eremel is allocated to the High Hazel Senate. This is where the six major clans of Eremel meet up and administrate the city.
The Head and Vice Head of each of the clans meet up in the Senate meetings every other Zelday. This assembly then discusses new laws and bills for the city. The leader of the assembly is called the Assembly Head. Usually the position goes to the Lord/Lady Magistrate of the city.
The way the discussions work is that each member will present one bill each meeting. These bills can be created by the clans or submitted by citizens of the city. Then, the clan leaders discuss the bill or law until they reach a decision to either reject it or pass it. This decision is made with a majority vote of the 11 members who vote. Finally, if the bill is passed by the assembly, the Assembly Head then can either veto the bill or pass it. If a bill gets a supermajority (8 out of 11 votes), then the Assembly Head cannot veto a bill.
If a bill is rejected by the Senate or vetoed by the Assembly Head, then the bill will go back to an unpresented state where it can be reworked to try to pass the next cycle.
Defences
The Northwest of Eremel is the Fey Forest. The forest that was created by Hazelia's entry to the Mortal Plane. This forest is a breach point between the Mortal Plane and the FeyWilds. There are often several incidents with the forest as fey monsters and other wild creatures run amok around the city.
To combat this the city has a massive wall that covers the entirety of the Fey Forest. Which is constantly guarded by the local military at Eremel.
The Hazel High Senate has been given control over its own smaller army that is separate from the Kingdom of Talevesh’s military. This was given by the Kingdom of Talevesh to enable Eremel City to fend off creatures from the Fey forest.
History
Eremel City was founded in approximately 2000 AO by the first elves led by Hazelia. This city is the first major settlement of elves. Hazelia led this city until she ascended in 3289 AO. Before she ascended she gave some of her power into six clans of elves that she wished would carry on to rule the city.
Eremel has suffered many conflicts in its time, fighting fey constantly, fighting in the Shadow War, an attack by Tiamat, the 4 Great Dragon Champions Rebellion, and a few conflicts with Greatbirds. The city has been scarred by its long history of war and is very different from the one that the Goddess of Nature left behind.
