The Chronicles of Valena
Structure
The Matron is head of the Clergy of the entire Chronicles. She has three subordinate High Chronicles who in turn deal with the Chronicles located in the temples throughout Aludel.
Divine Origins
The Chronicles of Valena was created by the goddess herself. Her desire to know the secrets of the world was satiated when she received the divine spark, so she charged her followers with collecting the information and writing it down.
Tenets of Faith
Knowledge is power, and secrets pull the strings.
It is important to understand the world around you. The more you know, the more influence you can have.
Knowledge must be wielded carefully. Be careful that you do not carry knowledge without understanding.
Ethics
Most followers of Valena look to knowledge as a source of good. The more knowledge one has, the more good one can do. However, certain others look at Valena's teachings from a different perspective, and use knowledge for their own personal gain. This belief, while not held by the Chronicles in majority, is not always looked down upon as a sin unless the beliefs are turned against the Chronicles itself.
Worship
Worshipers of Valena gather together in temples to sing songs, and shout praises to Valena.
Priesthood
For reasons unknown, Valena accepts only females to lead her clergy. Those few clerics, and rare paladins, are not beholden to this requirement, but it has been quite some time since a male has held rank within the Chronicles of Valena.
Clergy are appointed by the current leader of the Chronicles. Girls are often raised from birth to be a Chronicle, getting their title when they come of age at fifteen and pass the Test of Foresight during a private ceremony.
Granted Divine Powers
All members of the clergy have to pass the Test of Foresight. Those who prove themselves to be true followers of Valena are granted a small amount of her power, allowing the newly dubbed "Chronicle" to see certain events that are happening far away, or even into the future.
Sects
There is a small sect of the Chronicles which follows the more insidious and secretive aspects of Valena, however they are mostly disregarded by the majority of the Chronicles.
