New Talen'Lith (Political)

As you come into view of New Talen'Lith you see the warm glow of the new city casting red light that slightly illuminates the dark elegant spires that now lie in ruins just across the river.   Like claws ready to close in the twilight over a flame of hope.

Structure

Duke, Duchess, Reeve. Technically a Plutocracy.

Public Agenda

To rebuild and retake Talen'Lith

Assets

Findings of a treasury/Bank discovered in the early expeditions. Acquired wealth from adventurers

History

20 years ago, a group of young adventurers investigated and retook a portion of an ancient Elven City. After clearing out some of the city across the river from the main bulk, they had it established as a Dutchy under the party leader. They have spent the years making it livable and now wish to invite the next generation to come and try their luck at the ancient city.

Demography and Population

The population is extremely diverse and variable from day to day. Getting clear demographics of the total population is next to impossible, but for the more permanant residents it is 50% human, 10% elf (various types), 8% dwarf, 15% halfling, 5% gnome, and 12% Others, including dragonborn, tieflings, half orcs, and various other races. Although, going through the town you might think it even more diverse than that, as the majority of humans are among the farmers of the area.

Technological Level

While not the height of learning the world, the new city has very much been on the cutting edge with discoveries from the ancient city. Exported devices have led to several advances that would have taken decades for the other countries to get to, but the people are not generally researchers so if left here it would have been underutilized.

Religion

Being such a mixed location, all religions that do not preach death or hate upon specific races are welcome, and some of those that skirt that line are allowed to persist and have shrines but not permanent temples. A large open temple is available for worship of any deity or group but has not been consecrated to any one in particular.

Foreign Relations

Generally seen as favorable, for various reasons.   * Center for Adventuring leads to lower monster populations * Investigations into the old city have brought about a lot of forgotten tech and magics. * large influx of gold to the economies. * problem children can be sent away there.

Agriculture & Industry

Much of the city industry and agriculture is specifically designed around the adventuring population. Agriculture wise there is a heavy focus on wheat and potatoes to provide cheap and easy food for the starting adventurers while advanced crops, and various animals have grazing lands to provide fancier meals to those who are celebrating or have struck it rich.   Industry in the city is focused on supporting the adventurers as well, through things like weapon and armor manufacture, as well as alchemy to provide potions, acid, and alchemist fire. Construction is of high priority beyond that, as adventurers might want to renovate homes in the area or create their own shops.

Trade & Transport

There are relatively good roads, alebeit out of service and being renovated to the west and south. Each needs to pass over mountains so speed is not the greatest, but the port makes larger scale trade and purchase of goods from other countries easier.

Education

There are early schools for the children of the more permanant residents, however it is not much past basic education.

Infrastructure

The basic infrastructre of the original city is still in place. Sewer, internal roads, buildings, and the port were all found and renovated from the original. This has led the new city to expand at an accelerated rate.

Through Ashes, Rise.
