Defender's Heart
This large inn caters to mercenary companies and adventurers coming to the city. Inside this squat stone structure are dozens of rooms for rent, hearty food, and a wide selection of refreshments shipped in from across the Bloodstone Lands. It’s owner, Khalond Ostor (male human fighter) was a mercenary fighting at the Gate until he lost his right arm in a clash with demons. Now he spends his time overseeing his staff and talking wistfully with other, more able-bodied soldiers who spend time in his establishment on respites from the Gate.
Defender's Heart is a huge inn, able to house over 200 people if full. The main doors lead to a long hallway which has tables where some enterprising hunter/trappers and other merchants can display their wares, turning the Heart into an impromptu trading post. Looking past the trophies and tables, one notices that the entry hall is overlooked by arrow slits that let the light and sounds of the common room into the hall.
At the far end of the entry hall, just before it turns into the common room is a fully-functioning smithy. Felam Holbrook is the resident smith, and with a team of three apprentices, he takes commissions to repair weapons and armor, sharpen weapons, shoe horses, or any other small jobs that a visitor may need. The smithy has two forges, and while Felam works on one, he will rent out the other forge for those who wish to do their own smith-work.
