Òlhakeike

From the Lenape language which also named the Lackawanna River and many other places inhabited by the Delaware tribes, Òlhakeike caught Mr. Sinister's fancy because it means "many holes in the ground". One of his earliest Metropolis-area thralls was Russell Tenclouds from Earth 9, who in that universe was a professional translator, and knew this word from his work. Sinister, being of the "everything interesting is now MINE" mindset, kept the name even after he lost interest in that particular thrall.

Geography

Òlhakeike is laid out in the pattern of a six-pointed star, built mostly in three large caverns underneath former Metropolis south of the Lackawanna River and continuing south past the end of the original city's basements and subway system. Each limb of the star connects to another tunnel, five of which have stations for an underground monorail. The point closest to the river does not have a connecting point, which Sinister informed his construction team was for reasons of structural integrity.

Even those thralls who maintain the monorail stations have not worked out that the corridors lead through stabilized Stargate portals, connecting the space in North America to a pair of suburbs which thralls call ""Nino" (Sinister's original base in Italy, originally labeled "Appennino Sotterraneo") and "Shan" (Sinister's newest outlying base, labeled "Changbaishan" for the mountain in sight of the land above it).

The ceiling of the cavern has a holographic system and special paints that create an illusion of the current sky over a point near the Azores Islands. Every thrall with any sense at all can tell that they are in a controlled environment, and probably not anywhere near the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. For those who do not figure it out on their own, on the rare occasion that Sinister wishes to address his people all at once, he simply projects his image on that ceiling in place of the skyscape.

Heavily industrial work happens on the southernmost and southeastern limbs of the star. Any waste products, including noise, get funneled through the ruins of the former River Slope Mine in Jenkins Township.
