Grip of the Mind Thieves, Chapter 5: Clue and Analysis

GREETINGS TRUE BELIEVERS!

Welcome back!

Last time, we jumped in right as the Knights Vigilant was about to be attacked by two mysterious, and combat-ready, robots! To our hero's surprise, those were not just two robots, but colonies of miniature robots! This allowed the 'robots' to twist, turn and even change shape as the fight unfolded.

And unfold it did. The fight was intense, with even an interruption by the Disco Boys who tried to rob the museum in the confusion! But despite the distraction, our heroes stopped the robots and the Disco Boys!

But it wasn't time to celebrate. During the fight, the 1920s diorama of New York City, including its underground tunnels, had been stolen! A quick search revealed how it was done. As the fight raged, someone drilled through the floor and pulled the diorama down out of sight! The team was immediately on the move.

A hard search of the lower floor uncovered the diorama. It had been stashed in the Collections Storage room. But! It wasn't there to be packed up and taken away. Instead, someone was making copies of the diorama out of pieces of Styrofoam. Some pieces were still in the storage room, others had been boxed up and left outside for pickup... as "recyclables". Who could have done this?

The answer presented itself right away. Mind controlled security guards! One in fact stood guard over the pieces to be picked up by an approaching recycling truck. So the team split up.

Taki stayed above, eventually jumping on top of the recycling truck. Bronze Tempest scoured security footage. Sahara and Statesman searched the lower floors for more clues as to what the duplicates might be for and if any of the museum staff were involved. As for Moon Knight?

Moon Knight found two mind-controlled security guards making another delivery of duplicates and was captured for his trouble!

Now, the recycling truck, with Taki on top, is arriving on one side of the museum to collect the duplicates. On the other side of the museum? An unconscious Moon Knight is being carried away by two of the mind-controlled, and meta-powered, security guards! Already, some of the Knights Vigilant are racing to stop Moon Knight's abduction.

But! Will they stop the abduction AND prevent the diorama duplicates from being taken away? Also! What are the duplicates for? Where are they being taken to? There can be no doubt this is the work of Dr. Overmind. But what is he up to? And what does that latest puzzle Statesman found, "A waxing or waning fortune or fame", mean?

Curious questions, but will our heroes find answers? It'll take both brains and brawn for this one, True Believers!

This is Not Stan Lee saying...

EXCELSIOR!

The members of Mouse Force were mutated by a strange orange ooze. This is the same formula invented by Dr. Killian and almost used by the Clock King to contaminate the local water supply. Orange ooze known to the team to be made from the ultra rare and mysterious Crystal Jade Vine plant.

However, formula made from the orange blossoms of the vine are known to be unstable. Meta powers they grant are often temporary and harmful! Therefore, the Knights Vigilant have to...

... find where the remainder of Dr. Killian's nefarious formula wound up? Is it in the hands of Dr. Overmind? Or someone of an equal amoral and criminal mind?

... deduce the secret of the ooze, or at least a cure, for their old friends, Mouse Force. Time may be running out for them! Will our heroes, the Knights Vigilant, find a way to help them?

... last, if the technological hand of Dr. Overmind is behind this, our heroes have to deduce his nefarious scheme and put a stop to it, before innocents are hurt!

Currently...

What is the mysterious orange ooze that seems to be at the source of these troubles? Will Dr. Isley discover something no one else has?

The investigation at Pier I turned up a discovery that someone had been lying in wait in a closed down news stand. But who? Were they caught on camera? And how were the other people hit that ambushed our heroes?

Then last ...

Our heroes have discovered Dr. Overmind is using the New York Times crossword puzzle as a guide to commit his crimes! But who is this "S. Sphinx" that submitted the puzzle to the newspaper?

And now!

Where are the duplicates of the diorama going? What is Overmind's plan for them? And the latest puzzle... "A waxing or waning fortune or fame"... what does it mean?
