General Summary

Following a harrowing encounter with a wandering abomination, the debtors arrive at the real Reed Manor to investigate issues with potions sold to the Hooded Lanterns. After a "polite conversation" with the estate's master, the group returns to Emberwood Village and to devise a plan and execution.

Session Notes

• Eldemir reunites with Peter, Tim, and Grimgar outside of Reed Manor
1. Meanwhile, Sarlen stealths alone, planning to steal research for River
• Undead ogres in tattered suits patrol the estate, but Grimgar convinces them he is a "VIP," and the group approaches the house
• The apprentices are exhausted and defensive about their potions' quality
1. "The Lanterns were supposed to provide escorts for the shipments."
2. They suspect another adventuring party stole the missing potions
• As an Amethyst Academy graduate, Peter offers to inspect their latest batch
1. Relieved, the mages accept and show the group their messy laboratory
2. Delerium shards scatter the floors, and the Haze is especially thick
3. Despite their talent, the apprentices lack resources and direction, so Peter gives them constructive feedback on their alchemy
• Suddenly, a figure dimension doors inside with a chained-up Sarlen
• Oscar Yoren, one-eyed maleficent and former Amethyst Academy mage
1. "Who are you really working for? Why shouldn't I kill all of you?"
2. He suspects the group will rob him, on behalf of the Academy
3. He dismisses petty factional politics and cares more about phenomena with delerium, such as its "growth" in Redgaard
• He refused to pay Alcalad because the ranger failed to deliver eldritch lilies
• The group negotiates for their lives, offering to retrieve the flowers for him
1. Oscar counters, asking for the group to show their competence
2. He wants them to sabotage the Scar Mines and implicate the Academy, so the mages can't buy delerium from the Ironhelm Dwarves anymore
3. Also, he will sell potions to the eager Queen's Men in the meantime
• Shaken, the group returns to Emberwood Village and discusses their options
1. First, they go to Buckledown Row and take credit for the potion sales, however long they last
2. Then, they try to negotiate a truce between the Hooded Lanterns and the Amethyst Academy, through the Lang twins and River
3. Lastly, they join the Candle Colony knights in hunting the maleficent
