Emberwood Village

Written by Chrundle_the_Great

Description

Emberwood Village is one of the many settlements surrounding Redgaard. Several miles southeast of the city, the village has become an operating hub for potential delvers into Westemär's bygone capital.

Economy

When adventurers flocked to Redgaard and the village, Aldor, and several other merchants, jumped at the chance to sell expensive items to cash-laden adventurers and similarly set up shop in the same settlements. With delerium being plentiful in the ruined city, it is especially sought after by the village's various businesses.

Government

Leadership

The former mayor, Kosta Stavros, stepped down to manage the Red Lion Hotel.

Laws

Although "there can be no laws while no one sits the throne of Westemär," it is almost certain that the Hooded Lanterns stationed at the Emberwood Watchtower or the Silver Order knights guarding the Chapel of St. Ardenna will intervene in any bold-faced criminal activity.

Inhabitants

Although the village is mostly known for travelers drawn by the disaster in Redgaard, there are just as many people who survived the Cataclysm or were displaced by the contamination spreading from the comet-stricken city.

Factions

The following factions are currently operating, or have representatives, in the village:
  • The Amethyst Academy
  • The Candle Colony
  • The Followers of the Falling Fire
  • The Hooded Lanterns
  • The Queen's Men

Notable Inhabitants

Locations

Many of the village's thriving businesses specialize in supplies, information, and entertainment for adventuring parties. Although Emberwood Village isn't especially large, it is both crowded and well-defended by the many factions within.

Society

Activities

Travelers and locals alike could rest and relax at the Bark and Buzzard or absolutely let loose at the Skull and Sword Taphouse. In addition, the Gilded Lily offered fine wines and entertainment of all varieties.

Religion

With the faith of the Sacred Flame alive in the chapel, old standing stones, etched with archaic symbols, rest in a ring on the edge of the village. None but Old Zoya know which gods are being honored by the standing stones.

History

After the Westemär Civil War began, several adventuring parties scoured Redgaard for riches. As news of strange purple meteor shards reached the Amethyst Academy, they also began hiring mercenaries to retrieve what they named delerium.   As more adventurers arrived to claim the forgotten treasures of Redgaard, Emberwood Village became a base of operations for factions and guilds of all sizes.
