Hearts of Stone
General Summary
As the debtors stand on the cusp of claiming Von Drakken Estate, they are confronted by familial tensions and aberrant sorceries. Negotiations turn sour, allies are felled, and a young woman embraces the monster within.
In faraway lands, in the smoldering ruins of Barakorcaurak, two more heroes travel to distant Westemär, where our debtors' guild will finally earn its name: Kapital.
Session Notes
- Invited inside, the group partakes in a hearty feast in the estate's great hall
- Emer has not found her older siblings, Angelica and Carlos, but she believes her sister's children may still live
- By forging alliances with several factions, she aims to take back the Red Keep
- "By signing away your claim, you signed me away as your sister."
- Adamant that she will rule, Emer does ask Peter to be her court mage
- The siblings want to work together, but cannot agree on the estate
- Ansom speaks up, shocked that Emer would willingly work with mutants and "take the crown by force"
- Insulted, she has her guards lead him outside into the courtyard
- Grimgar follows and sneakily leaves his spy bug behind
- Emer seems resentful of Peter for leaving, as "he was all [she] had"
- "That's to say nothing of the assassin you sent after me. The orc."
- Ansom and Grimgar find a petrified, snarling Kragan among the statues
- With his spy bug, Grimgar writes, "She's a mutt"
- Like the wind, Sarlen rushes to gather Glassjaw Jake and Thorak
- Seeing the warning, Eldemir stands and draws his longsword
- Briefly, Peter sees his little sister, scared, before she composes herself
- Emer commands Eldemir to retreat towards the courtyard
- Fighting breaks out between the group and the von Drakken guards
- Emer arms herself and turns Ansom and Bloodhound to stone with a glare
- She calls for aid from Alistair and the family's armored owlbears
- Still a von Drakken, Peter commands the owlbears to heel
- Also, Alistair wears the Chancellor's Crest pinned to his vest
- Grievously wounded, Emer gives in, sprouts two stony wings, and flees
- The group rushes into the courtyard, where the statues move like puppets
- Alistair arrives and defends Emer, although he does not attack Peter
- Astride a griffon, Emer circles the courtyard and commands the statues
- Hill giant "bambassadors" barge in and demand to finally speak with Emer
- Tim points out that she has fully embraced her mutations
- Peter promises more pastures for their sheep, which Grimgar translates into Giant by wearing the Chancellor's Crest
- Intrigued, the hill giants knock Emer out of the sky with a boulder
- Peter becomes the new lord of Von Drakken Estate and reunites with Alistair
- They find the treasury sacked, Emer's last act before retreating
- Also, Ansom, Bloodhound, and Kragan are still turned to stone
- Eldemir has a disorienting vision outside the mage's tower
- "Do you remember?" asks a purple butterfly, as he watches knights' blood drip from his guantlets, fires raging in the background
- He awakens with a glyph of warding branded on his chest
- As Peter assumes his new responsibilities, a mysterious new ally arrives

- The Caves of Chaos are soot-black with melted stone, rubble, and ruins
- After Kapital was sold to devils, Mizzryn awoke the font of the forge
- Very few survivied, and others, feeling hopeless, left the guild behind
- As she mourns, especially for Aloadae, a white-robed figure gently emerges
- Cecil Goldmane, leonin tactician and survivor of the Feywild
- He comforts Mizzryn and invites her to travel with him to Redgaard
- With the estate reclaimed, the devils want the debtors to consolidate
- "That land needs heroes. Your path is only yours to forge."
- Before they step through a portal, Cecil druidcrafts a clover in his wake
