Ansom Lang is a lieutenant of the
Hooded Lanterns and one of the commanding officers of the
Emberwood Watchtower.
Description
Ansom is a
human man with a strong jaw and piercing green eyes. He wears a Hooded Lantern officer's uniform and carries no visible weapons. He is a lightning-quick martial artist.
Personality
Stern and quick-tempered, he sees idle conversation as wasted time and buries himself in his many responsibilities.
Relationships
Family
He and his twin sister,
Petra Lang, are wards of
Lord Commander Elias Drexel. While the siblings are very close, Ansom is somewhat overprotective of his sister.
The Hooded Lanterns
One of the commanding officers of the Emberwood Watchtower, Ansom cares deeply about protecting new recruits and fellow soldiers. As a leader, he prefers rigorously training his troops until they reach their fullest potential. He dislikes working with mercenaries but tolerates those who succeed their missions.
History
When Petra tasked members of
Kapital with a mission, Ansom was frustrated to find his sister at the
Bark and Buzzard again. Bearing news of three fallen soldiers and wanting to speak with Petra privately, he was dismissive of the group. When
Kragan Blacktusk fired back with harsher words, Ansom sucker-punched the other man. Ultimately, he felt bad and bought Kragan an Ember Ale before departing.
When Petra's unit was captured by
ratlings, Ansom broke Hooded Lantern protocol and attempted a "futile rescue" on his own, suffering serious injuries as a result. He pleaded with
Sirs Euclid and
Yusuf for their help, but the knights were unwilling to lend aid. Out of options and recently summoned back to
Shepherd's Gate, Ansom petitioned Kapital to bring his sister back from the
Rat's Nest Tavern.
