A Spider's Web
A: "Granda is going to tell the story of the temple again!"
B: "That's right, so either take your seat or mosey right along."
C: "Are we having snakes for supper?"
B: "Not this bull again. You know as well as I that Basi is nothing more than a necromancer at best. Not a deity."
C: "Have the spiders taken complete control of your brain? Basi is a as much of a deity as your precious, Malmi."
B: "Make you a deal. You keep your hissing tale to yourself long enough for me to tell mine, then you can have the floor."
C: (waves an open hand - a silent "you have the floor")
Somewhere deep in the Webbed Forest lies an unassuming, fallen temple. Its foundation reclaimed by nature. The walls are covered in vines and protected from slithering creatures by densely spun webs. It's said, this temple can cure all that ails you: sickness, broken limb, heartache, or fractured soul. The temple was constructed by the long lost Spiderfolk cluster who controlled the Arachnae Wilderness. Blessed by Malmi in mental acuity and strength, they created many of the forgotten monuments throughout the Claw Continent. But this temple was their prized creation. A local den of Serpentfolk hated the strides made by the Spiderfolk and sought to destroy everything they created. They brought famine, plague, and ultimately death to the once great cluster. The Spiderfolk made their way deep into the temple but Malmi's Fountain was overwhelmed and the destruction was so great that not even the blessed fountain could salvage the lives lost. Centuries passed, which brings us to today, where - like the sentient folk that came before - the spiders continue to battle in the name of our beloved Spider Goddess, Malmi. The fountain still exists, finally ready to heal a fallen cluster. If you can find it, that is.
C: "If you're quite finished weaving your web, I'll tell you the truth about "Malmi's" Temple."
B: "Oh, aye. You know the Spider's Web be the way of it, not this "truth" which you feel so inclined to throw about the room. But I told you the floor'd be yours, so take it."
