Asma
Asma is a region of Orie Country known for their tapestries and agriculture. According to local history or perhaps legend, Asma was a barren wasteland until about 20 years or so after the War on Magic began. No crops could grow and the community was dying. A few farmers began creating tapestries and sell them in Asmain. One such farmer was Cordella Grove.
Locally, Cordella is praised as the Heart of Asma after her passing over 80 years ago. Nationally, she is known for her tapestries. Some Ories value her tapestries for their beauty, others for her dangerous proximity to magic.
According to legend, the Strum Sisters vowed to Cordella Grove that this region would able to flourish as long as the community celebrates Spider's Day in honor of Malmi, the Goddess of Weavings. In honor of this pact, Cordella Grove wove Malmi's Tapestry and died a year and one day after its completion. This historical artifact is passed from farm to farm every year. It is believed that should one thread fall out of place, the Strum Sisters and Malmi would remove their blessings on Asma.
Most of the tapestries sold from Asma farmers are landscapes of the Mountain Range, the city, and the Sparkling Estuary. Many reproductions of Malmi's Tapestry are also sold, as are banners and flags for various organizations.
In addition to its tapestries, Asma produces 80% of Orie Country's produce. The bountiful crops flourish year-round. Despite dry soil with few nutrients, any seed can grow on Asma soil. However, any attempt at moving the soil to a new location causes any growing plant to immediately wilt. Asmain scientists have been stumped for years. Many Ories fear magic is afoot; however, any investigation could jeopardize the country's primary source of crops. Asma farmers believe magic saved the land yet fear its power.
