"We all need to agree to this, to avoid a continent wide catastrophe. The Golden Sea region must be treated as if it has immunity to any squabbles we may have! It must be protected from any and all beast or tainted. And its hardworking farming communities must be taken care of. We are the heartbeat of the continent, responsible for nearly 40% of the continent's food sources. So can we finalize this, are we in agreement?"

Purpose

The purpose of this document was to create a protective alliance of the four nations with parts of Valerick's heartland, the continent's breadbasket, within them. Known as the 'Golden Sea' this area of prime farmland, though crossing borders often, is about as big land mass wise, as many of the nations on Valerick.

Background

This agreement marks a military and socio-economic alliance representative of the entire continent but with only four nations needing to sign.

History

This agreement came about after a bad sand Joten raid in Susma left a quarter of the Golden Sea farmland razed and useless for a year. At that point, as the price of all produce rose wildly, and many across the continent felt their health suffer for a lacking diet, it was decided by these four nations steps needed to be taken to insure such a thing never occurred again.

Public Reaction

Pleased, pleased their governments stepped up and reacted so quickly and heavily to such a tragedy.

Legacy

It has led to a strong military presence in these regions, and continued shared efforts to insure farming communities are kept safe and productive.

But a simple content, an oath.

"In perpetuity, we, the four nations which share the heartlands, the Golden Sea as it is known, do swear to never raze, raid or otherwise target these lands in disputes between ourselves. Such activity should and will be treated as a war crime and a heretical act. We also all swear to insure a strong military presence in these regions to aid and protect these vital citizens and their homesteads, livestock and crops."
