Wizard
Wizards are masters of channeling mana into powerful spells. Typically, wizards study for years on end to unlock the secrets of magic. Using this time in the pursuit of magical power through the study of arcane texts. Some travel the world searching for esoteric tomes. While others come together in huge schools or conclaves to pool their resources and train neophytes.
Specialties
In contrast to shamans, wizards take a methodical approach to magic, and while priests and clerics power their spells with their faith, wizards need years of practice to master their spells. Given the intense study that wizards often engage in, it is no surprise that various arcane disciplines have become recognized as independent of each other, although it is not unheard of to practice multiple disciplines.
Social Status
Clan Dromoka
Dromoka mages train equally in the offensive and defensive arts. The mages known as sunbringers carefully channel the power of the sun as a warm light to heal wounds and strengthen spirits or unleash it in a blast of searing light. Other magic-users, called sandbringers, follow a magic tradition that originated among the ainok, calling up storms of sand to shield Dromoka troop movements or ravage the clan's enemies.
History
Abzan Houses
The Abzan included members of the canine race known as the ainok. The ainok of the Abzan Houses were deeply connected to the desert. They could always find their way to water, and they rarely became disoriented in the ever-changing landscape of the Shifting Wastes. In fact, some ainok mastered the sands themselves.
Sultai Brood
The magic of the naga was about warping the body, whether through shapeshifting or through modification after necromancy. They loathed humans, who they considered animals on par with their attack baboons. It was recorded that the naga's cruelty came from their resentment of the humanity they lost in days long gone.
The rakshasas wielded the most aggressive and dangerous magic of all the Sultai. It was swirling darkness and powerful spirits of the dead. Their magic was the kind that laid waste to swaths of land or reduced an army to dust. They summoned horrors and abominations that swallowed cities and devoured legions.
