George VII
His Majesty Edward David Albert Henry
George VII (Born Edward David Albert Henry; 17 December Y21 – 18 February Y72, aged 52) was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 28 August (y71) until his death on 16 February (y72).
The future George VII was born during the reign of his grandmother Queen Victoria II; he was named Edward at birth and was known as "Eddie" to his family and close friends. His father ascended the throne as William IV in November (y70). As the eldest son of the king, Edward was always expected to inherit the throne. He spent his early life in Buckingham Palace often at his father's knee, being trained to become the heir apparent. Edward attended naval college as a teenager and served in the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. At the age of 20, he was made Duke of Cornwall. He married Lady Gloria Parker-Lyons, and they had two children, Sebastian (later Sebastian I) and Anne. Upon the death of his grandmother, Queen Victoria II and accession of his father, Edward became the Prince of Wales and heir apparent. Upon the abdication of his father, following a major scandal, Edward became the sixth monarch of the House of Windsor, taking the regnal name George VII.
During his grandmother's decline Edward was often seen as a caregiver to his grandmother. This coupled with his public joviality and evidence of being a nurturing father, made Edward incredibly popular, frequently polling in public opinion polls just behind his grandmother, the Queen, and often tied with his son, Prince Sebestian.
George VII was seen as sharing the hardships of parenthood like much of the common people and his popularity soared.
During the economic collapse of the nineties, Edward, and his family, was frequently seen working with common britons. He did not shy away from work or austerity and despite still being second in line to the throne Edward became known as a symbol of British determination.
He was beset by congenital health problems in the later years of his of his life and was plagued with headaches for almost the entirety of his reign. He died at Buckingham Palace, aged 52, of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was succeeded by his son, Sebastian I. His reign lasted five months, twenty one days.
